Each performance features an entirely original musical, created in real time based on an audience suggestion. From the opening number to the final curtain call, the songs, storylines, light design and choreography are all made up on the spot. Each show features a two-act structure:

Act One: An original, fully improvised musical inspired by an audience suggestion.

Act Two: A shorter improvised musical based on the real-life stories of an audience member, turning their personal anecdotes into a mini-musical.

Origins and Name
The group's name, The One Four Fives, is a playful nod to the I–IV–V chord progression, a foundational pattern in music often used in blues, rock, and pop songs. Just as this progression forms the backbone of many classic tunes, The One Four Fives use musical structure as the foundation for their spontaneous creations—bringing Broadway-style musicals to life in an improvised, comedic format.

The One Four Fives were named a finalist in St. Louis Magazine’s A-List Awards for Favorite Live Theater Group in both 2023 and 2024.
